Volume 1: Toward the Scientific Defence of Historical Materialism: Basic Elements of the Historical View of Nature, Cognition from the Historical Point of View, The Science of Social Consciousness – OUT NOW

We are excited to announce that the Volume One of the series is out now. Thus far we have four volumes out – from projected ten (or more) – so not exactly half-way done but getting close. The next volume will be Volume 4: Political Writings, 1904-1918 – it will include translations by both David G. Rowley and Evgeni V. Pavlov and will contain a number of Bogdanov’s political texts that have never been thus collected and presented in any languages. After that we hope to put out Volume 7: Writings on Socialism and Economic Science, 1904-1923 – translated by David G. Rowley and then Volumes 5: The Fall of Great Fetishism: The Contemporary Crisis of Ideology and Volume 6: The Cultural Tasks of Our Time: Essays on Proletarian Culture – translated by Evgeni V. Pavlov. We will then complete the planned ten-volume series with a translation of Tectology and a volume of correspondence (more details on this pending)

You can see the ToC for Volume One below (and on Brill’s page linked above)

  1. After reading Empriomonism and the Philosophy of living Experience, I am now deep enough into the Bogdanov rabbit-hole to be interested in these even earlier texts. So do you have an approximate release date for the paperback edition? As you know – it was the same with the other releases – at 192€ the hardcover edition isn’t really affordable for some of us proletarians at all…

    1. Paperbacks come out a year after hardbacks (which are meant for libraries – you can ask a local library to sign up for the whole series or acquire this volume only). Haymarket will be publishing this volume 12 months later.
